石河子大学
Shihezi University, a "Project 211" key university jointly built by the Ministry of Education and the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, is located in the core area of the Silk Road Economic Belt and is a national "Double First-Class" university. The university currently has approximately 35,000 students, including nearly 500 international students, and over 3,000 faculty and staff members. As a solid bastion of higher education in China's western frontier, the university boasts over 20 doctoral degree programs, covering 10 major academic disciplines, including agriculture, medicine, engineering, and management. The campus covers an area of approximately 1.8 million square meters (over 2,700 acres), with an annual budget between 2 and 3 billion RMB. Deeply rooted in the Corps' mission of reclamation and border defense, the university is strategically positioned to "be based in the Corps, serve Xinjiang, reach out to the entire nation, and radiate across Central Asia." It has developed distinct characteristics and made outstanding contributions in areas such as desertification control, oasis agriculture, and endemic disease prevention, making it a unique hub for serving national strategies and regional development.
